New Orleans, there’s gotta be a colour way in here somewhere…
ByWhat a bizarre, surreal place the French Quarter is. New Orleans, with its voodoo, death culture, endless bars, boutiques and neon lights, can really make you feel like you’re in another world. I wouldn’t want to live there… but it was fascinating to visit. I’ll be doing a study based on the very last photo, the dark streets and neon lights, I’m sure there is a colour way in there ;)
Love Love Love New Orleans!! We’ve been there 4 times now – staying for over a month 3 of those times. We almost considered it our place for a number of years. We were planning to return again for another month this past year but events didn’t allow that. We even considered buying a house there that we looked at – we were that serious.
We’ve done the French Quarter – but we rarely drink so don’t hang out there. It’s a tourist attraction. We prefer the quieter parts of NOLA and there are some really beautiful places that surround it. The houses in the Garden District and the plantations out on River Road…sigh.. what beauty!
What we loved most was the people. They are the friendliest people we have found when travelling.
We arrived the first time right after Katrina and we were shocked and horrified at what had happened and what they were left with. Everyone was so grateful for our business and have remained so ever since. And since then they have rebuilt and renewed. Gorgeous architecture – amazing history – it’s like a siren call to us.

Lovely story of your connection to NOLA. I’ve never been but you and Shireen’s pics really make me want to visit.
I think the first photo, looking through the window, would make a terrific color way (a variegated deep gray and cream with a tiny touch of red, orange, blue and green).

I love the Bourbon St. picture. I’ve never been to New Orleans but have always wanted to go.
