Project 5 – Working with open bezels – transparent pendant
ByWelcome to the fifth and final of 5 blog posts that feature the projects and skills in my new book – Resin Jewelry, available for purchase Wednesday Sept 18th! To celebrate, I’m giving away 2 copies of the book on Wednesday. Entering your name is simple–just leave a comment on this post telling me what you’d love to do with resin! Winners will be announced Wednesday.
It’s been a big week for me – I’m preparing the last Etsy jewellery update I will ever do (at least, that’s the plan) and changing the Blue Brick’s Etsy site over to a knitting patterns only store. If you really love my pieces, fear not – I will continue to resin on a commission basis, so you can always email me with a request :)
Without further ado – here is the fifth project in Resin Jewelry:
Open bezels is a fancy way of saying ‘rings’ ;) This project takes you though how to use rings and other open forms to make your own bezels. Sealing the back, attaching hanging hardware and getting a perfect, glassy finish on both sides of the piece are covered. This is a great project for any piece you want to be 2-sided, whether it’s jewellery, or an embellishment, whether you intend to hang your final piece from your Chrismas tree or your rearview mirror. Check out the inspiration gallery below to see some of the things I’ve made using open bezels, and don’t forget, today is the last day to enter the contest!
Christmas ornaments aren’t something I had thought of, but they would be super cool, too!
In addition to admiring your resin ability, I’m also envious of your knitting skills. Have you considered putting actual knit pieces on Etsy?

I read somewhere once that knitting ‘is like sex. If I like you, it’s free. If I don’t like you, you couldn’t possibly pay me enough’ ;) the quotes a bit racy, but I do feel that knitting takes so much time I could never charge a realistic price for a piece. I knit only for love :)

Great quote! Maybe one of these days I will actually learn. In the meantime, I’m going to start playing with resin :)

I am so excited about your book. I can’t wait to purchase it. I would like to make a memorial pendant of my sister with flowers. Your book will show me how to do it.

For many days I have been searching for the perfect resin book that offered the look of resin jewelry that was elegant and looked professional. I am a metalsmith and wire jewelry artist and love the fusion of your bezel and silver components. At last I have found what I was looking for right here. Your resin work is lovely and fits that above description beautifully. Much thanks.
