10 Day countdown, Cover Debut and Contest!

For the 10 day countdown to the release of Resin Jewelry, 2nd Edition, I’ve decided to do 2 fun things.
- Show off the new cover! That flower is called a ‘Painted Tongue’, isn’t that awful? It’s also known as a Velvet Trumpet Flower and that’s the name I shall stick with. The bezel is handmade by almost-hubby Tito and the project is a straight up single-stage pour.
- Have a contest! For the next 10 days, leave a comment on my blog telling me what you would preserve with resin. The flowers from your wedding bouquet? Your child’s first self-portrait? Sand from your last vacation? The skies the limit, so tell me what you’d cast as a project! On September 15th I will choose 2 comments to win printed copies of the book. Everyone can enter, even if they already ordered/upgraded their e-book, because really, who doesn’t like to have a printed book in their hands?
The astute among you will notice from the book cover that the Blue Brick is getting a rebrand ;) More on that later!

Resin Jewelry, 2nd Edition will be released September 15 and is now available for pre-order. Pre-ordering entitles you to the current version now and the fully updated version on September 15 at no further cost. You can pre-order until September 15 for only $20.00 USD, after which the price will go up to $28.00 USD.

- If you bought the book on my Etsy site, give me the paypal address you used to buy the first book. If you bought it on blurb, give me the date of your original purchase
- I will verify the original purchase with my records
- Once verified, for a paypal payment of $5 I will add you to the list of folks who will automatically receive the e-book Resin Jewelry, 2nd Edition on September 15th, via email.
This offer will expire on September 14th, on September 15th the full e-book and printed version will be released.

The cover is gorgeous! I absolutely adore your first book and can’t wait for this 2nd edition. I was actually thinking lately of something meaningful I could preserve forever in resin in a beautiful piece of jewelry and realized I had the perfect thing… my husband is Jewish and during our wedding we had the traditional breaking of glass, I have many tiny shards of gorgeous jewel toned glass and I think some would look wonderful in a resin pendant or ring.

I have parrots, & would love to preserve their colors in resin, especially the feathers with different colors on each side

Oh wow, thanks for the competition! Ooh,now to actually think of what I would preserve… as a crafty mathematician I would love something handmade which represented my maths, so I’d definitely love to preserve a cross stitch of the maths equation which I work on, called the Riemann Zeta-Function :)

Hello aggggain. I looked into my Etsy account, and see that I ordered your 1st book by credit card not PayPal (Etsy has that option). That is why I have been so confused about this whole thing. What does a buyer who purchased volume 1 by credit card via Etsy due for volume 2? Cin

I’ve been contemplating about preserving something very dear to me since I began working with resin. I discovered it shortly after I lost my mother and decided it was time to go through her things. I found a small tiny handwritten note from me to her that said “You’re the best mom in the world and I love you”. I had no idea she had carried it with her for all those years (10 at least )! Now being a mama myself, I realize why it was such a treasure to her. I’d love to make a necklace out of it and wear it close to my heart :)

I’ve been thinking too – and even though you and I have emailed back and forth – I thought I’d tell you my special something anyway.
My Mom had this beautiful huge piece of lace in a dresser drawer that I came across when I moved in with her to be her constant-care nurse. When I found it I hauled it out and we had a look at it and it was still in perfect condition. It was quite large – enough to make a dress out of – so Mom told me I could have it for my wedding dress.
Mom died on my birthday. After the funeral my sisters wouldn’t let me back into the house – not even to pick up my own things – and I was afraid that I would never see that piece of material again.
My nephew was allowed to go and pick items for me when it came time to choose – and when the boxes came – there wasn’t any material.
I got married to a beautiful man that my mother really loved. We felt she was with us that day – but we missed her.
Then one day a number of boxes arrived – ‘just junk that wasn’t wanted’. As I dug through them I came across that large piece of lace that hadn’t been touched ‘ hidden beneath a bunch of scrap pieces of fabric.
After seeing your lace embedded in resin Shireen, I think I would love to take a piece of this beautiful old lace and make it into a special pendant for myself in memory of my Mother.

I love working with resin, but never seem to be all that happy with everything I make. I have taken some beach photos from our favorite place in Puerto Vallarta, Mx. & added sand to them in a bezel. that has been my favorite piece so far. But, after seeing some of the stuff you have made, I know I want to do some more experimenting. I am in the process of re-organizing my craft room, hoping for a better layout. I also like to do a lot of paper projects,(cards, scrapbooking, etc…) I am looking forward to the new book.

I am very excited to be purchasing your new book. The samples are absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait to read about your techniques. I hope some information on making metal bezels is in there. I was going through some of my children’s old school papers I have saved and thought one thing I would like to try to do is to scan and shrink their early attempts at writing their names and encase that in resin. I might even do a larger necklace or bracelet with multiple pieces with the names, family drawings from very early handmade Mother’s Day cards, and even locks of hair from their first haircuts.

For sure I want to try flowers. All kinds of colors & variety. I have yet to try it and it’s at the top of my list. I also want to try to preserve something from my pets – fur, feathers, etc. I think that would be something special as well as something different!

I have some pictures of my parents that die before the new my babies. I have double exposed there pictures with my childens. I would like to make a pendant of that.
