Le Pop! The Paris bracelet

This one was a blast to make. As with the Venice bracelet it’s genuine Swarovski crystals and whimsical antique copper findings in a delicate, romantic little bracelet reminiscent of my time in beautiful Paris.

It was October when I went and the trees in the jardin des tuileries were in full autumn mode.

This show is this weekend, here’s the link for details!

Le Pop! – The Venice Bracelet

Be prepared this week to see a lot of jewellery – I’m in full prep mode for Le Pop! this weekend and thinking, breathing and dreaming out new designs for my selection. Each piece will be part of my Inspira series – jewellery inspired by my photography and travels. I try to convert the feeling, the colours, the textures, and even the materials where I can, into a piece of wearable art. This one is from my time in Venice:

Silver plated findings, genuine Swarovski crystal details, a large Swarovski rhinestone set in a silver plated bezel and filigree charms make up this whimsical little bracelet inspired by, and sold with, a print of a photo I took from the Rialto bridge in Venice of a gondola going by.

Aurora, earrings and Le Pop!

Le Pop! will be part of Toronto’s Frugal Fashion week, and features a selection of local artists curated by my talented friend and creative colleague Dylan Dias, and I’m one of the featured designers!

The event is taking place here in Toronto -
Where: Nyood Restaurant – 1096 Queen st. West
When: Saturday July 28th, from 11am to 4pm

If you’re in the area come down and check it out, there will be a great selection of local artists and designers to browse through.

For my pieces I’m going to be focusing on my Inspira work – pieces of jewellery I have created inspired by photos I have taken. My latest piece, created just last night, is (no surprise here) inspired by photography of the aurora borealis.

A pair of dramatic, 4″ long earrings in a black hematite finish display the colours of the aurora in genuine Swarovski crystal before ending in a hematite tassel detail.

The crystals were picked to evoke the spectrum in my photos, and will be sold with a print of the aurora photo that inspired them.

I decided on hematite instead of silver to draw attention to the crystal gradient, as the night sky framed the light show.

They, and many more of my pieces, will be featured at the Le Pop! event – if you’re in the Toronto area on July 28th come on down and check us out :)

Inspira Jewellery – Lake Quidi Vidi, Newfoundland

In the tradition of my other Inspira pieces I’ve created a bracelet inspired by the Lake of Quidi Vidi in St. Johns, Newfoundland:

Lake Quidi Vidi

Tito and I shot the lake during the blue hour. It was a very serene spot. I love the deep blues and the reflections in the water.

Lake Quidi Vidi

The Quidi Vidi bracelet was created using chocolate Japanese delicas, sterling silver bead caps, ocean blue Swarovski crystals and quartz crystal stones.

Western Canada is breathtaking – but give me the East Coast any day, that is where my heart lives :)

I ♥ Canadian Autumn

Another round of new, autumn themed jeweller has been added to my Etsy page! These one of a kind pieces are lovingly crafted from real flowers and leaves, preserved in jeweller’s grade resin and encased in antique copper. Each one is unique.

Autumn Jewellery

This copper necklace contains real autumn leaves in a heart shaped bezel setting, preserved in resin. The pendant is 19mm wide, the leaf is 1.25 inches long, and the collar is 18 inch long coated cable.

Autumn is almost over here in Toronto and we’re expecting our first snowfall soon, so I’d better get out there and get more leaves before it’s too late !

Autumn Beauty Preserved pt II

I wanted to share an update to my Etsy shop – resin rings have been added to my Autumn collection!

These rings contain real autumn leaves, vintage sequins and occasional embellishments like sprigs of Queen Anne’s lace.

They are both in antique copper for now, though I’ll be making some in copper, silver and gold finishes as well.

They are adjustable in the back, I love them so much I made one for me :)

Autumn Beauty Wearables

resin jewellery

I’ve been working in resin again and this last round has me thrilled. So thrilled in fact that I’ve finally updated my Etsy store to share some of these beauties.

resin jewellery

Ever since I started working in resin I’ve been obsessed with the idea of preserving beautiful, natural elements to wear. In particular, the magic of autumn in Ontario is something I’ve always found inspiring. The idea that this transitory beauty could be preserved in a unique piece of jewellery was very appealing to me, and is what kick started my journey into working with resins. It’s taken a pretty long time to perfect my technique but I think I’m finally there :)

resin jewellery

Some of them are simply flower petals preserved. Some of them took lots of squinting and composing using exacto knives and tweezers ;) I do a double pour; once to seal my composition, once to give it a nice finish.
